Beyond the land acknowledgement: What next steps can we take? 

Our goal as a network of human service professionals is to continue learning in this space, and a land acknowledgement is one small part of that commitment.  Below are some next steps we encourage you to take during your time in Colorado:

• Pause and sit in reflection with the land acknowledgement, as you are able.  Notice and allow any emotions that come up for you, and tune into what you feel in your body.  Be mindful of any thoughts or questions that arise for you.
• Learn more about the following Colorado-based Indigenous-led organizations:
  • First Nations Development Institute
  • Native American Rights Fund
• Consider attending SPARK conference sessions focused on healing, trauma-informed approaches, EDI, and antiracism.
• Access resources like the Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs to extend your learning.
