The Senior Director provides strategic, programmatic, and lifecycle management for all services and offerings in Social Current’s leadership development and workforce excellence portfolio. The Senior Director will partner with colleagues and external partners to develop and drive forward key business strategies for Social Current with its network and partners. The position will lead the cultivation and delivery of a revenue-generating portfolio of services and offerings that focus on leadership development and strengthening organizational impact. The position will also provide training, technical assistance and consultation to organizations, businesses and governments with a focus on addressing systemic inequities. The role will serve as a subjectmatter expert and thought leader.

The position will have primary responsibility to lead a new effort to develop, test and implement a Leadership Framework for human services professionals (public and community-based) that unifies their approach and voice and fosters connection to community. Building on our existing tools and resources, this position will create a suite of offerings for organizations to assess and benchmark their current functioning and will organize offerings to support organizations to elevate their proficiency in areas of need. Position is contingent upon grant funding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cultivate Social Current’s leadership and workforce excellence portfolio, identify gaps, prioritize viable opportunities for increased revenue
  • Specify and oversee the data gathering/research needed to determine the social sector’s leadership and workforce needs and interests of Social Current’s clients and the social sector market
  • Identify and monitor trends and business challenges facing the social sector that might be addressed through program or service innovations
  • Research client requirements, competitive offerings, and portfolio gaps to determine market needs for new offerings or partnerships
  • Analyze the portfolio performance, including quality, impact, revenue, profitability, price, and satisfaction and convert analysis into insights, actions, and a portfolio roadmap strategy.
  • Develop the necessary business cases, pricing strategies and discounting guidelines that support offering development and positioning in the target markets.
  • In partnership with the colleagues across Social Current, drive knowledge collection and dissemination to inform the broader sector and other key stakeholders, including media, policy makers and human serving organizations about the tools, processes and outcomes for furthering leadership and workforce excellence including best practice in leadership development.
  • Accelerate sector/organizational strengthening strategies and ensuring policy work supports organizational capacity and capability
  • Serve as knowledge expert on enhancing the health and excellence of organizations and leadership by informing internal strategy service and offering development, and providing internal and external consultation, publishing original work, and delivering presentations.
  • Ensure proper use of budgeted resources to maximize value for funder, organization and sector. Identify potential funders to support, enhance and expand work.
  • Participate in project development and grant writing or revenue generating processes to fund scaling of promising or effective ideas.

  • Content expertise in the areas of leadership and workforce development in the social sector (ex. social policy, behavioral health, human development and wellbeing, social determinants of health, and equity).
  • Experience working with diverse partners and sectors, including social and public-sector systems.
  • Evaluation knowledge and experience, including the development of theories of change, and performance outputs and outcomes.
  • Strong project management experience with the ability to plan and execute complex projects in a deadline driven environment.
  • Strong business acumen with proven experience with business plan and budget development and management of expenses.
  • Skilled at partnership cultivation and management; highly collaborative with ability to influence and engage colleagues outside of formal levels of authority.
  • Demonstrated success in managing the growth of a small to medium size business or business segment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including strong writing skills and spoken communication skills; highly skilled public speaker and presenter and effective written communicator for diverse audiences and formats.
  • Demonstrated grants management experience including grant writing, project execution and reporting preferred.
    Prior experience as a consultant preferred

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in social sciences, public health, public policy, public administration, organizational development, business, business administration, product management; 5-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May provide direct supervision, which includes establishing performance goals, providing regular supervision and coaching, establishing and supporting a professional development plan, and providing regular performance feedback informally and through annual performance review process.

Travel Expectations

Travel is expected.

Salary Range

This position will offer an annual salary based on standard work hours of 35 hours per week. The salary range for this position is $99,000 to $126,225. Social Current offers a generous paid time off plan (PTO); medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits; and a 401(k)-retirement plan.
