The Social Current Senior Director of Government Affairs should possess significant political acumen and be perceived as an influential consensus-maker. The ideal candidate should have or be able to establish personal relationships with bipartisan, bicameral Members of Congress and their staffs. The Senior Director should also have or be able to develop strong contacts with relevant committees (e.g., Judiciary, Commerce, Ways & Means, Finance, etc.), Congressional Caucuses, and federal agencies (e.g., HHS). The Senior Director will use these contacts to help implement Social Current’s Public Policy agenda for successfully achieving specific legislative results in Washington.

The purpose of this role is to represent Social Current, its leadership, and the network to the US Congress, the federal regulatory agencies, and applicable state governments. This individual represents the particular interests and concerns of the human services social sector before legislators, policy makers, standards bodies, and the sector.

The Senior Director of Government Affairs will be based in Washington, D.C., and will work with the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Vice Presidents to drive Social Current’s Public Policy agenda and strategy. The Senior Director will work with leadership across Social Current to provide public policy counsel on a variety of issues and will be the day-to-day liaison between Congress and Social Current. The individual will drive communications with Social Current and the network regarding the status of legislation and regulatory actions vital to their interests.

The Senior Director will coordinate activities and partnerships with those who are advocating for the network and will work with other organizations and coalitions in Washington which have aligned goals and businesses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Co-create, influence, and implement the Social Current legislative policy agenda.
  • Quickly grasp, assess, prioritize, and address the policy-related issues facing Social Current and the network.
  • Understand the Congressional legislative process including the roles and decision points in the Senate, House, Federal agencies, White House, and national political party committees, in order to advance the Social Current public policy agenda.
  • Assess the impact or value of pending regulatory or legislative measures.
  • Work directly with Members and staff on key Congressional legislation.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret environmental, market, and network data to accelerate the Social Current public policy agenda.
  • Lead or co-lead development of, and contribute content to policy positions, issue briefs, letters to Congress, calls to action, etc.
  • Draft legislation that supports primary goals and objectives of the network and supports the advancement of the sector.
  • Recommend positions on issues and suggest changes in strategies as the legislative and regulatory processes unfold.
  • Persuasively communicate complex concepts and programs across staff, the Social Current network, across the sector, and at the highest level of government and business.
  • Identify and influence the key policy makers, develop, and maintain relationships with key people and organizations.
  • Understand trends and developments in the markets; identify key levers to capitalize on opportunities and/or minimize downside exposure.
  • Possess strong technical policy knowledge; able to draft a holistic picture of the overall activities and policy as they relate to human services.
  • Work collaboratively with national partners to deliver successful outcomes, as well as work and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders around potentially ambiguous objectives.
  • Develop and control department operating budget.
  • Supervise staff and interns assigned to the government relations team

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provide direct supervision to Government Affairs staff and interns, which includes establishing performance goals, providing regular supervision, and coaching, establishing, and supporting a professional development plan, and providing regular performance feedback informally and through annual performance review process.

Education and Experience

Bachelor or master’s degree in social sciences, public health, public policy, public administration, business administration; 5-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Data Science Manager, reporting to the Senior Director Client-Facing Applications and Data Insights, is responsible for enabling the strategic vision of data services for Social Current and managing the day-to-day operations of the Data Insights team. The ideal candidate is data-driven, analytical, a problem solver, and has a keen desire to leverage performance measurement to improve business operations.

The Data Science Manager leads the design, development, and implementation of critical data-driven service and product initiatives, champions the employment of data across the organization, and contributes data insights to aid in strategic decision-making. They provide leadership in the design of data warehousing, analytics, and reporting, as well as user-centered design and user experience. The role calls for an innovative individual with strong data management aptitude, ability to communicate and work effectively in a cross-functional environment, and desire to continuously learn and improve methodology and design.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Champion the exploration and application of data in support of Social Current’s culture, mission, and values.
  • Lead the work and strategy of the Data Insights team to support the full spectrum of reporting and analytics requirements in keeping with Social Current’s growth.
  • Direct the efforts of the Research Specialist, establish performance goals, and monitor the timely delivery of project commitments.
  • Deliver on institutional priorities – including data benchmarking, quality assurance, performance measurement, and analytics initiatives.
  • Investigate and interpret enterprise information needs, anticipate opportunities, and provide expertise and tailored actionable insights to answer critical business questions based on a strong understanding of business processes, drivers, and priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders throughout the organization to cultivate alignment on strategy, goals, and objectives, and help teams to make data-driven decisions.
  • Lead the benchmarking initiative, including design, implementation, technical design, user experience, customer support, evaluation, and presentation.
  • Conduct research and analysis projects and prepare reports, white papers, and other materials.
  • Generate and present absorbing information visuals, presentations, and documents for consumption by non-technical audiences; speaks succinctly about interpretation and recommendations.
  • Recommend improvements to data structure and data quality, develop Social Current’s Data Governance Policies, implement professional guidelines and procedures, and share best practices across Social Current.
  • Monitor uniform data collection compliance and quality across the organization.
  • Design and deliver data self-service capabilities for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for data and research requests.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree required; concentrations in behavioral or social sciences preferred.
  • 5+ years overall experience in data reporting and analytics, required; 1-2 years field specific knowledge, preferred.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in relational database systems and other technologies required; experience with Salesforce CRM administration preferred.

The Accreditation Coordinator brings value to Social Current with a background in human and social services and has a commitment to improve the lives of individuals and families. The Accreditation Coordinator works closely with human service organizations seeking accreditation as their single point of contact, providing valuable insight, support, and technical assistance ensuring organizations successfully navigate through Social Current Standards and the accreditation process. This role facilitates the various stages of accreditation, such as intake, self-study, site visit/review and post-site visit reviews while working with the Site Visit Review Teams to ensure consistency and excellent customer service throughout the entire accreditation process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitating the accreditation process for organizations by providing valuable insight, standards interpretations, and technical assistance
  • Assessing an organization’s administrative operations and services and assign standards
  • Proactively engaging organizations to ensure that they achieve their accreditation milestones
  • Reviewing organizational/programmatic policies, procedures, and other documentation to assess implementation of standards and assessing the organizations readiness towards achieving COA Accreditation
  • Identifying potential challenges; and working with organizations to access additional resources, and providing ideas and support on how to demonstrate implementation of the standards
  • Offering professional subject matter expertise to provide training and technical assistance to support the assigned work
  • Staying current with emerging trends, best practices, legislative activity, and service delivery uniqueness for assigned responsibilities
  • Collaborating with colleagues to provide consultation and technical assistance to Review Teams, to ensure each Team has the information and resources necessary to complete the accreditation process
  • Participating in cross departmental meetings
  • Collaborating with colleagues to provide feedback regarding volunteers with performance concerns
  • Developing and maintaining a strong understanding of COA Accreditation standards, rating system and decision-making processes
  • Evaluating site visit/reviews and ratings, work collaboratively with staff and volunteers (Review Teams and Commissioners) to clarify ratings and develop recommendations
  • Synthesizing and analyzing complex information to complete and communicate recommendations and decisions to organizations/programs and volunteers
  • Evaluating organization/program responses and other documents (e.g.: policies and procedures, etc.) to assess implementation of standards and assess the organization’s readiness to go before the Accreditation Commission
  • Answering questions from organizations about general standards questions, the Final Accreditation Report, and questions on preparing for reaccreditation
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date information in the data management system, including contributing to the collection, recording, and integrity of data to ensure accurate reporting and analysis of accreditation processes, dashboard measures, and monthly statistics; and provides reports, as requested
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues in various departments to ensure a smooth and positive accreditation experience for the organization and volunteers who conduct the reviews
  • Proactively identifying and developing efficient methods to support the work of the Accreditation Operations and initiate opportunities to improve other processes
  • Representing Accreditation Operations and Social Current on committees and work groups with internal or external stakeholders, as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Master’s in human service field and three (3) years of related work experience, or bachelor’s degree level with five (5) years of demonstrated experience in the human services/social services field
  • Experience in direct care services, preferred
  • Experience with/knowledge of accreditation standards/processes, preferred
